Wyoming property tax: where it goes

A Wyoming house pays 5.768% of its taxable value before the exemption (4.016% with it) in property tax. For a house at $87,929 of taxable value with the homestead exemption, that's about $3,531 a year.

Tax is levied on taxable value, which is multiplied by the millage rate to calculate property taxes; taxable value is capped and cannot rise faster than inflation each year, except for new construction or a change of ownership, and the year after a sale it becomes the same as the assessed value (50% of true cash value).

The 2026 winter rates (Kent County special levies and Kent District Library) are set with the December 2026 bill; the estimates from the City of Walker's 2026 rate sheet are used, since these countywide levies were the same in Walker and Wyoming in 2025.
