Mount Pleasant property tax: where it goes

A Mount Pleasant house pays 6.252% of its taxable value before the exemption (4.452% with it) in property tax. For a house at $75,284 of taxable value with the homestead exemption, that's about $3,352 a year.

Tax is levied on taxable value (1 mill is $1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value); taxable value is half of true cash value in the first year of ownership and is capped after that.

The City kept its 2026 rate at 16.25 mills and Isabella County set its 2026 operating rate at 6.61 mills, but a full list of the 2026 school, RESD, library, college and county winter rates for City property owners is not published yet (winter bills go out in December), so the 2025 rates from the City's millage history are used for those.
