Changing your cart
Call Waste Management, Inc., at (850) 301-2822; special needs customers (handicapped and elderly) may request a smaller 64-gallon garbage and recycling cart.
Ways to pay less
- Seniors 65+: lower garbage rate. Destin households of no more than two people, at least one of them 65 or older by October 1, may apply for Waste Management's senior rate: $24.39 a month instead of $29.80. How: Apply with Waste Management, Inc., at (850) 301-2822.
- Low income: no garbage fee. Destin residents whose gross household income for the prior year is 150% or less of the federal poverty guideline may qualify for an exemption from paying for garbage service at their principal residence. How: Submit the City's notarized income exemption application with proof of income. Renewal is not automatic: reapply between January 1 and March 15 each year.
