Monument property tax: where it goes

A Monument house pays 0.466% of its taxable value in property tax. For a house at $636,700 of market value, that's about $2,966 a year.

Tax is levied on assessed value (market value times the residential assessment rate: 6.25% for local government and 7.05% for schools for tax year 2025), times the mill levy.

El Paso County's taxing authorities certify mill levies each December, so the 2026 levies (billed in January 2027) are not set yet; we use the 2025 levies on the bills paid in 2026.
