Ways to pay less
- PG&E CARE households: discount on City water service charges. Customers on a fixed or lower income who meet income requirements and are enrolled in PG&E's CARE program may qualify for a discount on their water service charges. The program is suspended if its funding runs out before June 30. How: Bring the Low Income Discount Application and a current PG&E statement showing the CARE discount to the Finance Department, 650 Merchant Street. Questions: (707) 449-5128.
- Income-qualified households: PG&E CARE or FERA. CARE takes 30–35% off electricity and drops the base services charge to $6 a month; FERA takes 18% off for incomes slightly above the CARE limit. How: Apply with PG&E; application forms are also available through community agencies.
