Ways to pay less
- Income-qualified households: PG&E CARE or FERA. CARE takes 30–35% off electricity and drops the base services charge to $6 a month; FERA takes 18% off for incomes slightly above the CARE limit. How: Apply with PG&E; application forms are also available through community agencies.
- Households eligible for PG&E CARE: lower garbage rate. Marin Sanitary Service's low-income rate in Larkspur is $47.34 a month for a 32-gallon cart instead of $59.17, for households that meet PG&E CARE eligibility requirements (2025 rates). How: Questions about your garbage bill go to Marin Sanitary Service's billing department at (415) 456-2601.
