Hawthorne electricity and gas rates

Who supplies power and gas to Hawthorne houses and what a typical house uses: about 523 kWh of electricity and 35 therms of gas a month. The city adds a 5% utility users tax.

Electricity: Southern California Edison (delivery) + Clean Power Alliance (generation)

SCE Domestic rate with Clean Power Alliance 100% Green Power, which Hawthorne chose as its default energy option in 2022: $0.40019 per kWh in total (CPA generation $0.11954 + SCE delivery $0.25631 + surcharges $0.02434), an average monthly bill of $209.30 at 523 kWh. SCE rates as of June 1, 2026; CPA rates as of July 1, 2026. SCE's Base Services Charge is $24.15 a month for residential customers not in CARE, FERA or qualifying deed-restricted affordable housing (those pay $6.00 or $12.08); the Domestic Multifamily Accommodation rate (Schedule DM) is exempt from it.

SoCalGas's March 2026 average non-CARE residential bill was $72.39 a month for a typical 35 therms; its bundled residential average rate (transportation, public purpose surcharge and gas commodity) is about $2.10 per therm, and gas commodity rates change monthly. SoCalGas's non-CARE residential fixed charge was $0.16 per day as of September 2025.
