Independence property tax: where it goes
A Independence house pays 1.366% of its taxable value in property tax. For a house at $263,700 of market value, that's about $3,602 a year.
Tax is levied on fair market assessment set by the Kenton County PVA, taxed per $100 of assessed value.
The state (10.3 cents per $100), Kenton County (11.3 cents), City of Independence (19.3 cents) and Kenton County School District (63.2 cents, adopted by the Board of Education on August 26, 2026 for 2026-27) rates are the adopted 2026 rates. The health, PDS, library, extension and Independence Fire District rates are the 2025 rates from the Kenton County PVA's table, because 2026 rates for them were not posted when we checked.
