- Source
- The city buys its water from the City of Melbourne: Lake Washington, part of the St. Johns River, and the Floridan Aquifer.
- Lead
- West Melbourne tap samples (2023): lead 90th percentile 1.1 ppb against a 15 ppb action level, no sites over it; the city's inventory found no lead service lines.
- PFAS
- Two PFAS were found in December 2025: PFBA at 0.0067 ppb and PFBS at 0.0032 ppb. These unregulated contaminants do not yet have a drinking water standard.
- Violation
- In August 2025 disinfection by-product samples were collected one day ahead of schedule, which counted as a violation; the results were satisfactory and met all requirements.
Sewer
City of West Melbourne sewer for customers inside city limits with both water and sewer service: a $14.45 monthly sewer service charge plus a usage rate of $5.00 per 1,000 gallons.
Ways to pay less
- Away for the season: put your water account on hold. Seasonal customers who plan to be away can pay seasonal rates with their account on hold. The Water/Sewer Disconnection Form closes the account completely, and reopening it takes a new deposit and service fee. How: Complete the city's Seasonal Shut Off and On Form, not the disconnection form.
- Free toilet leak test tablets. Toilet leaks are the most common cause of an increasing water bill. Toilet test tablets are free at City Hall. How: Pick them up at City Hall, 2240 Minton Road, and put one in the toilet tank (not the bowl); color in the bowl after 15-30 minutes means a leak.
