Sarasota property tax: where it goes
A Sarasota house pays 1.488% of its taxable value in property tax, plus flat charges on the same bill. For a house at $463,000 of market value with the homestead exemption, that's about $6,606 a year.
Tax is levied on taxable value: assessed value minus exemptions (Save Our Homes limits yearly increases in a homestead's assessed value to 3% or CPI, whichever is less).
The Sarasota County Tax Collector's combined 2026 millage table is not posted yet (its latest is the 2025 table certified 10/03/2025), so the county, EMS, school, hospital and water-district rates are the 2025 certified ones. The City of Sarasota part uses the 2026 rates in the City Commission's Sept. 8, 2026 millage resolution (3.2730 operating + 0.1305 debt). The County kept its countywide rate at 3.3842 mills for fiscal 2027.
