Ways to pay less
- Low-income seniors and disabled: Lifeline trash rate. Qualifying residents may get the Senior Citizen/Lifeline trash rate: $25.97 for the 32/35-gallon can in 2026, compared with $30.18 at the standard rate. The head of household must be 62 or older, 100% disabled under Social Security law, or receiving a non-service-connected VA disability pension, with household income below the extremely low level for Solano County. Senior citizens may request back door service and are not charged for it. How: Call Republic Services at 707-437-8900 for more information.
- Two free bulky-item pickups a year. Fairfield and Travis Air Force Base residents get two free curbside bulky waste collections a year (about 3 cubic yards and 2 large items such as sofas or appliances). Each household also gets one extra garbage, recycling or green waste pickup a year and a landfill coupon for Potrero Hills Landfill. How: Call Republic Services at 707-437-8900 to schedule your free pick-up; get the landfill coupon at the Public Works Department, 3rd floor, with proof of residency and an ID.
