My priority as your City Councilman is to restore transparency and integrity to Red Wing, represent all residents fairly, and ensure city government works for the people—not the other way around. I will fight reckless spending, stop unnecessary levy increases, and pursue responsible budget cuts while finding innovative ways to improve efficiency and service quality across every city department. I will work with local businesses, developers, and major corporations to attract new investments, create opportunities, and bring exciting new attractions to our community. Environmental responsibility is also essential. I will initiate conversations with Xcel, ADM, and Purina to pursue practical solutions to air pollution and protect our residents’ quality of life. I will promote open communication through public informational sessions and post-council meeting recaps so residents understand the issues, decisions, and votes affecting their community. Most importantly, I will fight for equal investment and infrastructure improvements throughout Ward 4. Our neighborhoods deserve the same attention, maintenance, and resources as every other part of the city. We cannot allow our streets, storm drains, and infrastructure to deteriorate while other areas receive improvements. These priorities can begin on day one. Together, we can build a more transparent, fiscally responsible, environmentally conscious, and thriving Red Wing. Put the City back to work for you—not the other way around. Vote Chet 4 Ward 4 on November 3rd!
What should the council do with the 2027 property tax levy before final adoption?
Dump it. Residents of the city don't have the option of walking into their boss' office and saying "the economy is bad I'm taking an extra 5-10% this year" & if they did, they'd be fired. We should hold our elected officials to the same standard. Work within your means before asking for more money.
What should Red Wing do about its law enforcement center?
Stay with Goodhue County and look into other city owned spaces to utilize for training purposes.
When and where should the council rezone for higher-density housing?
Immediately. There should be a fast track for any interested investors looking to develop high-density housing in Red Wing. Additional tax incentives should be explored for high-density housing for low income individuals.
How should Red Wing pay for the new wastewater treatment plant?
Team up with the big businesses who utilize the city's wastewater system and include a utility upgrade and improvement fee to any new building permits to offset the costs of maintenance and upgrades down the road so the residents don't have to foot the whole bill.
